8 reasons why I have not submitted to VectorStock com

VectorStock.com has been around for many years. It sells nothing, but vector. Many top vector artists have submitted to VectorStock simply because they do not have better options. They need to generate their income as much as possible.

However, I for once have not submitted anything to VectorStock because of the 8 reasons below.

1. VectorStock had denied my application as a contributor... twice. I have submitted the below two vectors in two different occasions, and their response is...

We have reviewed your sample and do not feel your work is suitable for the VectorStock library at this time.
You may re-submit a new sample for reviewing if you feel you can illustrate a different style.

Below are the two vectors I submitted to VectorStock on different occasions and both have been denied for not suitable.

2. I believe my sales will be poor and unworthy. Although, this page (most download) shows us that there are indeed sales, but the performance of their new files are utterly disappointing. Take a look at their latest vectors and browse the pagination up to as many as you can. You will see that 99% of the files have 0 download. I dont mind if older files will eventually sell, but try to browse up to page 1000, and you will still be seeing 0 download for 99% of the files.

3. They sell us cheap. For a start, you earns 25% of your sales. All your files are priced at only USD1. That means that if you sell a vector, you only make USD0.25. Mind you that this is not even a subscription rate download, but a totally on-demand download. You cannot compare this rate to site like Shutterstock because Shutterstock sells at least 1000 times more than a low earners like this.

4. VectorStock uploading process is lame. They want you to reduce your artwork size to 380 x 400. Ohh, please, you are actually troubling ten thousand artists out there just because your programmer does not know how to write a script to resize a JPEG for the website preview. I reckon they rejected my application earlier was because of this reason. Yes, I didnt create my artwork in 380 x 400, and if this was really the reason you rejected me, at least you should mention properly why am I rejected instead of saying "I feel this is not suitable".

5. Because they are selling our vector so cheaply, I feel that they are luring "thieves" into buying our vectors and then putting it up for free at file hosting site. The reason why these "thieves" put our vector for free in file sharing site is because of money. However, I will not discuss this matter today as it will take one whole blog entry to explain. "Thieves" will most likely target on cheapest stock agency and buy from them so that their earning margin is higher.

6. They dont have PR (personal relationship). When is the last time you heard about them saying anything at all on the Internet? They dont even have a news column and forum in their site for us to discuss their site related matter and doesnt even bother what everyone is saying about them outside. These are some forum threads about VectorStock and I dont see VectorStock sending a representative to comment.

When you dont send someone to comment and to clear things up, you are basically losing your creditability. Take a look at Graphicleftovers, they are good at PR. I have recently wrote a review about Graphicleftovers, and they really care enough to send someone to comment and to clarify things up. I love them.

7. No marketing effort. I cant see their advertisement anywhere in the Internet.

8. No site upgrade. You never ever see the site improve or degrade before. Do they even have a team of programmers? Have they given up?

So here is my offering to the magazine gods today, and Ill keep you updated on how it fares. Its already been used 9 times and made $385 but I havent pitched it again as a reprint in years.

Whereas, omega 3, polyunsaturated and mono-unsaturated fats reduce this risk. Choose foods that contain a lower sugar and carbohydrate quantity and avoid sweets, soft drinks and white bread. Eat healthier alternatives such as whole fruits, freshly squeezed juices, and whole grain brown bread. Natural and wholesome foods are a much better choice to processed ones. Fruits and vegetable are a good source of vitamins and minerals. Protein can be obtained by lean meat and beans whereas skim milk and low fat cheeses are enriched in calcium. Try to consume organic foods whenever possible. 

2. Drink Plenty of Water:

Drinking a substantial amount of water is vital for a healthy life. Water indeed has tremendous benefits to the human body. Water helps to lose weight as it reduces hunger and flushes out by-products of fat breakdown from your body. It also helps to ensure healthier skin by replenishing skin tissues and moisturizing it. Your brain is mostly made out of water and therefore staying hydrated results in better productivity at work. Water is also essential to fight off ailments such as kidney stones and heart attacks and can improve your immune system. You get tired less, but without water, your heart needs to pump harder, the oxygenated blood to all cells and so you feel fatigue. It also reduces the risk of certain cancers and inevitably leads to a happier you. 

3.Get Exercise 

Exercising is very essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It helps strengthen your muscles and body parts for a more flexible and fit you. Stretching and a routine warm up before the actual exercise is important because it helps relax your muscles so that sudden and awkward movements don’t do damage. Working out in a proper environment like a gym can be motivating. After stretching up, work on both cardio and strength training exercises. Move rapidly and intensely and get yourself pumped up as much as you can. If you aren’t sweating, you aren’t doing it right. Ensure 30 minutes minimum everyday are devoted to exercising. 

4.Stay Away from Unhealthy Habits

Once you get going and your body starts to show positive changes, don’t stray off from the routine. It’s easy to fall back into such habits, but it renders all the effort useless. Avoid such stuff and maintain your weight. Don’t rely on pills to lower your weight unless you consult a physician. Such pills can have undesirable and possibly harmful side effects. Stay away from alcohol because excessiveness especially, can again lead to weight gain from the calories it provides and cause you to eat more calories after consuming the alcohol. 

5.Sleep to it 

A proper amount of sleep keeps you healthy and boosts your immune system and metabolic rate. Sleep assists the brain and ensures that it works properly. While we sleep, our body works to support healthy brain function and growth and development. Sleep deficiency can cause a lot of harm because the way you sleep reflects the way you feel during the day. Without sleep, the body and mind are in a state of fatigue that can result in trouble making decisions and solving problems, low productivity and can even lead to emotionally damage with risks to suicide and depression. Getting enough sleep helps to function well throughout the day. 

6.Reduce your Stress Level

Mental and Physical health goes hand in hand. Always take time out for yourself to relax your body and mind. Thinking is a good thing. Yet, thinking too much and about trivial matters is just building up pressure on yourself. Try to relieve yourself from stress by engaging in positive activities like playing sports and meditation. If something is really stressing you out and your unable to find a solution to it, it’s always a good idea to talk about it. Guidance counselors, healthcare providers and therapists are all people that can easily be approached. They listen to your problems and once you let things out, it always feels much better. 

7.Keep Check of Your Weight

If you don’t know how much you weigh, you can’t make efforts to control it cause you wouldn’t be sure if it’s making a difference or not. Thus, it’s very important to know what you weight. While being obese and overweight can lead to many illnesses and problems, being underweight has never been a good thing either. Your body can suffer malnutrition is such circumstances and you may face hindrances in growth and development. If you are overweight, set a sensible weight loss plan because rapid weight loss can also have undesirable side effects. Eat healthy rather than eating less to ensure gradual weight loss through a realistic calorie intake. An online BMI test can also help you assess your body mass and proportionate weight. 

8.Maintain Good Hygiene

Proper hygiene is vital to good health. Without it, one could fall prey to menacing germ infestations leading to numerable illnesses and diseases which may or may not be curable. Thus one should take all steps to prevent such an occurrence. Shower everyday and especially if an activity has made you sweat. Brush and floss well because it prevents not only gum disease and tooth decay, but the risks of cardiovascular problems. Keep your nails trimmed and clean and scrub between your toes to prevent athlete’s foot. Lastly, always wear clean clothes.
